Rainy Play Day

Yesterday was a happy, long overdue play day with Miriam and Wendy!

Didn’t matter much that it was a miserable day outside, Wendy’s conservatory was soon transformed with a huge table full of creative goodies – paints, inks, mediums, stamps….you name it, it was on the table! (plus cake, biscuits and numerous cups of tea!)

So we started off the day with a journal page (Wendy’s first!!). I decided to go with Dylusion paints and tried a colour combo I’d not used before (and wasn’t sure of!). This page started off with brayered Squeezed Orange, Cut Grass and London Blue…….. which I wasn’t totally convinced with so it then had several Fresco paints added to try and bring it all together…..plus sky blue tinted fibre paste through some stencils. Oh, and let’s try some black leaves in the corner with a zig pen (why did I do it? I still think I ought to paint over those!). Hmmm, still not convinced! Ok, let’s drag it all together, kicking and screaming with Seth Apter’s star stencil and some black tinted grunge paste, black star and circle stamps, splat and coffee ring dies and finally some chalk fresco paint through some words from one of his stencils. Slow progress from “hmmm, not sure about this!” to “Yep, that’s good!”

Lunch break then I had a silly play with a tag and some bits already cut out from sources unknown….plus the remains of some coloured texture paste that Miriam had left over put through a Dyan Reaveley border stencil.

Finally, Miriam set us off on a tissue masterboard piece. I decided to go totally out of character with a pastel colour palate. It’s all Fresco paints to start with, some tinted grunge paste through a stencil and then finished off today with various colours of Brilliance inks and mainly Paper Artsy/Ellen Vargo stamps.

A really enjoyable play day spent with my Besties 🙂

Great page here. So much detail and dimensional texture to explore.
