WOYWW – 363 Still Alive and Creating!

Nothing to see today on my desk but, after a few weeks of not doing much in the den, I’m back on track after a great play day last Saturday with bestie Miriam. We had a play with a variety of mediums which we will do more of, then we created a masterboard each with Paper Artsy frescos, Ellen Vargo stamps and Seth Apter stencils…..love these stencils (shhh! have ordered one or two and a couple of dies!). So, the “feature image” of this post is my final piece which I was very pleased with, especially considering I’d been away from the painty/inky stuff for a while. Excuse the quality of the photo though as it was taken with phone not camera!

I have made a few birthday cards too but I can’t post photos yet as they’ve not been given to the birthday people! As you can see, I have had a good tidy up and a bit of a rearrangement so I have more workspace and less clutter in front of me when I start my next project!

I’ve not been sat idle whilst I’ve been away! I’ve revived my love of crochet and have started a few projects – “crochet-alongs”, which, for the un-initiated readers, are projects that we get the patterns for on a weekly/fortnightly basis and there are various Facebook groups you can join to discuss progress/problems etc. So I have been doing Mandala Madness (3 of them!) and also Sophie’s Universe (which is an old one but the pattern was still available) and Frida’s Flowers. I was going to do the Dances in the Rain CAL but, with all the drama going on in the FB group and the (lack of) quality/accuracy of the patterns, I decided to give that one a miss! The Mandalas are going to be about 60″ wide each – not sure if the pinky one will end up that big as it’s destined for a single bed but the cream and blue ones will. Here they are in various stages  – 3 Mandalas and Sophie:

Part 4row 20

I’ve filed the photos of Frida’s flowers very carefully – so carefully, I can’t find them so that’s for next week once I’ve taken some more.

So, that’s it for this week….not the usual drill as Julia’s poorly (get well soon xx) so pop over to Jan’s blog who’s standing in for her for the links of everyone else that is taking part in this week’s What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday for a peek at lots of creative spaces.

Happy Crafting

Wow, that crochet is amazing!! That’s so much more complex than anything I’ve ever attempted. I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s all about the colour for me, I’m not actually that bothered about different stitches but when I see work like yours, then I’m ashamed of myself!
    Hugs, LLJ xxxx

Check out the link Jan….Mandala Madness is great…….basic written instructions, written instructions with some photos and then video links for someone actually making each part. I’ve resorted to the video a couple of times as there’s stitches I hadn’t done but I’m enjoying it even if I am a week behind

That crochet is beautiful. I can’t believe you are doing 4 at the same time…. I get confused doing just the one crochet item. Well done.
    Take care. God bless.

Brilliant crochet- you are obviously an expert – not like me. I am doing the Dance in the Sea CAL. I agree there has been a lot of drama- I choose to ignore it- I have only just started week 1 – no trouble with that pattern so hope the others will be ok 🙁 I’m in no rush to get it finished. Going at my own pace and hope to enjoy. Thanks for visiting. Anne x #24

Wow, your crochet is beautiful! I’ve tried to crochet a few times, but still can’t grasp it. But I love to knit, particularly complicated fair isle.
I wonder do you join up those round shapes? or are they “stand alone” pieces?
    Thanks for dropping by too.

They’re all stand alone pieces Rosa….the project’s weekly instructions don’t finish until July, but which time the Mandalas will be big enough to fit a queen size bed!
Thanks for your visit and compliments xx

Your crochet projects look beautiful, Caz! It would take me a lifetime to make those four and they would look nothing like yours either, LOL! Thanks for visiting earlier! Have a lovely weekend! zsuzsa #37
